I like Merriam Webster's definition of disinvestment.
It defines disinvestment as:

  1. :  consumption of capital; also:  the withdrawing of investment

The “withdrawing of investment” is what we as a people have been doing systematically since the civil rights era to our Black-owned businesses. We have wholeheartedly bought into the untruth that Black owned businesses aren't of quality or up to par like White-owned establishments. We're pushing the agenda that “Black” means something ugly, low and degrading whether we realize it or not.

In Martin Luther King's “I've Been To The Mountain Top” speech given right before he was assassinated, he points out that we needed to patron our Black-owned businesses more. He called for “bank ins” and “insurance ins”. Today finding a Black-owned bank is nearly impossible. Finding one that is well supported by the Black community is impossible.

“I call upon you to take your money out of the banks downtown and deposit your money in Tri-State Bank. We want a ‘bank-in’ movement in Memphis. – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

…You have six or seven Black insurance companies in Memphis. Take out your insurance there. We want to have an ‘insurance-in.’ Now these are some practical things we can do.”
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

…not only that we've got to strengthen our Black institutions.
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr. viewed supporting our Black-owned institutions as practical and necessary. Shouldn't we be viewing it the same way? Why aren't we? Is  it because we've forgotten to maintain unity? And when I say unity – I mean being community minded It's time to regain it.
Blacks were killed just for knowing how to read or write. However, today those who continue the work of oppressing people of color, are no longer threatened at our ability to read, write, or own a business. Their agenda to divide us by having us hate one another's education or success is working just fine.
