In all things, I am a child of God first. Being so, I can't help but think about what Scripture has to say about economic inequality. One of my favorite books of the bible is Proverbs. In Proverbs 29:7 it says:
“A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.”
We have been governed for years by men who seek to limit the progress of people of color in any way they can. It's a sad thing. What makes this fact even more upsetting is that so many of us know what is going on, and allow it to be. Could it be an attitude of “better you than me” that keeps us as people where we are? Even so, people of color, Blacks, African American…whatever you choose to call yourself…you have to get this through your mind first and foremost – there is NO change possible if we do not unify to start working together toward a common goal.
I'm going to keep this post rather short since it's 11:19 pm and I have more work to get done.. but I wanted to share this video that I saw on Facebook. It touches on the use of “dog whistling” a term that means to basically use terms or phrases that are vague enough to not be blatantly racist, but it gets the job done in keeping oppression alive and well.
Until next time I leave you with this:
“I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will execute justice for the needy.” Proverbs:140:12
I absolutely believe this. Do you?
